Website Maintenance & Security
Protect your investment
Just like a car, your website needs regular maintenance for optimal security and performance. If your website is neglected, it could lead to potential hackers stealing sensitive data, similar to someone leaving their premises unlocked overnight.
It can take some expertise to protect a site, so it’s worthwhile to hire a professional to do this for you. Through my website maintenance & security plans, I’ll take on the stress of all these complexities so you can focus on growing your business!
The risk of not having your site properly maintained
Website hack
If your website isn’t maintained and protected, it’s not a question of “if” but “when” a hack will occur.
Poor performance
If your website isn’t optimized, it’ll perform and load slower as times goes on affecting conversions and sales.
No backups
If your website isn’t consistently backed up, you could completely lose your website’s content and progress when a breach happens.
SEO implications
If your website isn’t maintained and optimized, Google knows and ranks sites that are digitally “alive.”
Website legitimacy
If your website has any glaring issues such as a down SSL Certificate or notices of an unsecure connection, it affects traffic and brand legitimacy.
Missing out on important security updates
WordPress is always on the look-out for security issues and always ready to release updates to fix them, especially the ones concerning security vulnerabilities.
What's included in the plan
Website hosting
Hosting is the foundation of your website. Security, performance, optimization and ease of use all depend on it. I offer premium hosting for all my clients so you don’t have to worry about a thing.
WordPress updates
Updating your website's plugins, theme and WordPress core is essential as it allows developers to fix bugs and security issues. Additionally, out-of-date plugins are the #1 leading cause of website hacks. I'll take care of this for you so that your site is up-to-date & protected from potential security threats.
Daily security scanning & uptime monitoring
I use special tools to monitor your sites’ traffic and activity, protect against potential hacks or breaches and keep an eye on “up time” to ensure your site is up and running fine.
Website backups
Backing up your website consistently is critical for many reasons but most importantly, if the site needs to be restored, transferred or downloaded, I offer external backups and restore points for all clients on my plans.
Website optimization
In order for websites to load fast and perform well, the files, database and media need to be optimised regularly. I'll keep your site optimised and running smoothly along with cleaning up any “web gunk.”
Broken link checking
Having broken links on your site can have a negative effect on user experience as well SEO. I'll make sure that every link on your site works properly and apply redirections where needed.

Frequently asked questions
Yes, you can cancel anytime. And no, there are no cancellation fees. You will just need to give one month’s notice in writing to cancel your next payment. If you do decide to end your maintenance plan with me, any premium plugins will be disabled and you will need to purchase them outright. Your website will also be transferred to your own web hosting (if currently hosted with me).
Yes, you will need to sign a web maintenance agreement before we start to ensure both parties are protected and on the same page with deliverables and responsibilities.
There is no setup fee for the websites I build as long as it’s within a 90 day period.
If, after 90 days you’d like to sign up for my maintenance plan, there is a $99 set up fee. This is to ensure all tools are updated, database is cleaned up, site is backed up etc…
For websites I have not built, there is a $150 setup fee as I’ll need to do a lot of work up front to update the site, learn the tools and get it ready to be properly maintained.
My maintenance plan is not mandatory for clients but is highly recommended because of the importance of security, optimisation, updates, backups, support, etc.
That said, if you choose to forego a care plan, you’re welcome to. You will, in that case, assume complete responsibility for the website updates, security, backups and other services laid out in this plan by reviewing my LIABILITY CLAUSE that releases me from any involvement if and when the website is breached, hacked or performs slowly because the lack of proper optimisation.
In the extremely unlikely event that a website is breached or hacked in any way while on my plan, I’ll take full responsibility and rectify the situation immediately. You will not need to do a thing.
I generally do, as long as your site has the tools that I’m familiar and comfortable with (or can learn quickly). Additionally, the site’s hosting must be one that meets my requirements.
Your monthly time (for premium or elite plans) covers any updates, additions or add-ons to your website. For example, changing hours, company information, staff or team members, adding new photos, updating services pages, etc.
I’ll always try to get your updates done within your allotted time to save you extra costs, but if you have a decent amount of updates that require more hours, I’ll let you know beforehand and give you an estimate of time and do that at my hourly rate.
Note: The allotted monthly time is for work or updates on the existing website and cannot be used for other projects or a step by step website revamp. I’m happy to do those things either at my hourly rate or a separate fixed project!
